The woman behind the woman

Ok Ladies, I’ve been sitting on this blog for a while now; it’s been on my to do list and always seems to get pushed back for some unforeseen reason. Okay, I lie. the truth is; I can be a massive perfectionist at times and surrender to fear and overwhelm… often!

I’ve mentally tried to launch this blog a number of times, and it’s just never happened. But, the good news is; I’m feeling called to release it out into the world again, and despite my high expectations, I will not let imperfections get in the way!

Where’s this ballsy, no fuss, change of perspective come from? Well, it’s International Women’s day 2021! #IWD2021 And this years theme this is CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE. #choosetochallenge

It was just the prompt I needed to leave my ego at the door, get out of my head & challenge myself to bring something meaningful to the table.

So here I am, feeling a mixture of vulnerability and inner strength. I’m bringing you a far from perfect, thought-provoking blog that encourages reflection within motherhood and celebrates the ripples that women create within this world. Nothing will ever be perfect and we need to stop putting this expectation on ourselves. The more we embrace our flaws, the easier it is to authentically connect with women and accept the need for community.  From here we can celebrate our strengths, ignite our passions and deepen our collective purpose.

I believe we need to make more space for open and relevant conversations within motherhood. Because when we do, we’ll find ourselves living with both deep intention and lighter hearts.

Whether we need to get something off our chest or we’re craving a fresh perspective… sometimes all we need is a strong cuppa and listening ear. Because for-absolute-ever women have needed each other. We’ve needed guidance, support, encouragement, understanding and above all else…love.

We were never designed to exist alone, and I truly believe that when women feel supported, together we will thrive!

So welcome! Welcome to my little virtual corner of the world. Here you will be greeted with a range of concepts that will be unpacked with an open mind and warm heart. This space is for women who need more than the perception of perfection… wow… say that one out loud! I’m not making any grand promises, but when I sit down to write for you, I plan to use this as my mantra.

I feel like this is where I should introduce myself, but something tells me that you already know I’m a passionate self care promotor (Yes, I made that up, and yes it’s a thing!) that runs a Holistic Massage Studio from home… So instead, I’m just going to send you here to see who I am and here to see what I do.

Now, in light of International Womens Day 2021, I was going to share with you a piece that I had previously written about My Nan and the legacy she left within me…. But in all honesty, reading back over it today… it’s probably best left in my personal stash of journal writing.

Long story short however, I want acknowledge and thank her, for passing down the art of connection through words. Whether it was in the form of writing, singing or telling a killer joke, my Nan was a natural; she really did have a magic way with words. And by simply honouring her passion and innate gifts, Nan was able to create some pretty incredible ripples within the world. Ripples that will extend far past one lifetime! Sharing her love of words with the world, has inspired me to do the same.

Hello………..… blog land!

Gahhhh…. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read over this and almost pressed DELETE!

But I guess that is the whole point. I keep coming back to perfection and the expectation we put on ourselves as women. I’m sure there’s lots of you that can relate. I think about my Nan and wonder… What if she never wrote her book? What if she didn’t create her poems? What if she didn’t sing every day?

What if I never….. heard her voice? Her inner voice?

I’m sure she had moments of self doubt, I’m sure she experienced vulnerability at its worst. But it didn’t stop her. And my gosh am I grateful. Not only has it given me a sense of belonging with my skills, but more importantly it encourages me to do the same for my children. I want them to look back and without a doubt be able to recount my passions and gifts to the world.

So to wrap up this perfectly imperfect blog post, I invite you reflect on your passions and gifts. Where have they come from? Is there a generational link? And most importantly, have you been making space to feed these passions?

I dare you to CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE.

Comment below and tell me something you can challenge yourself with your passions! Have you got an idea, project or craft you’ve been sitting on? Don’t let perfectionism, fear or overwhelm get in the way…. CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE!
