By promoting a sense of deep relaxation, Reiki allows your body to sink into a state of rest and this is where the natural healing process can begin. 

When we talk about healing, let’s go back to basics and remember that ‘to be healed’ simply means to ‘go back to our original, healthy state’. 

In today’s world there are many factors that move us away from a ‘healthy state’ which in turn can lead to stress and dis-ease in the body.

Stress and dis-ease shows up in many forms: 

  • Stress, Anxiety, depression

  • Tension, physical pain

  • Overwhelm, scatteredness, confusion

  • Fatigue, lack of focus or motivation

  • Low immune system, illness

  • Feeling numb, blocked or stuck

  • Fear, worry

How does Reiki Healing help my body ?

When our body is living in a state of stress and dis-ease, it can feel as though you are existing in a constant (sometime subconscious) state of ‘fight or flight’. This is regulated by the Sympathetic Nervous System. And when activated, it’s near impossible to experience your ‘original, healthy state’. 

This is where Reiki helps.  It encourages the body to step into its ‘rest and digest’ state which is regulated by the Parasympathetic Nervous System. This gives your body a chance to recoup and recalibrate which in turn gives you a chance to heal.

Understanding that stress and dis-ease is our body’s way of coping and communicating gives us the insight we need to begin the journey of connection to self and ongoing healing. It all starts with self awareness.

See the body has the ability to hold onto things that effect us even if we don’t notice. Whether it be physical trauma, emotional experiences or limiting beliefs. The longer that we store these ‘things’ in our system, the louder our body begins to speak to us. 

You don’t need to be unwell to receive Reiki. Some people reach for Reiki to support many areas of their identity, whether it’s helping you to maintain calm within the chaos of daily life or deepening your intuitive ways, Reiki has many benefits to suit the modern day woman.

What to expect in my first Reiki Healing session?

Tea and grounding. This is the way I open any session in the studio. Giving you time to wash away the busy morning, calm the nervous system and energetically arrive. 

I will ask you to come 15 minutes early to fill out an initial intake form. And from there this will give us time chat and unpack your reasons for coming. 

Please know that any reason is valid, even if it’s simply feeling curious. I believe that if your feeling called to explore something new, then there’s a reason. There’s something waiting for you and all it takes is that one little step.

After a light consult, we decide on an appropriate intention and use this as our focus throughout the session.

In session, you will remain fully clothed (I suggest wearing something comfy) and I will tuck you up, all nice and cosie on the bed. With an optional eye pillow and soft music, before you know it, you’ll feel right at home. Yes many of my clients find themselves drifting off to sleep mid session and this is perfectly fine. There is no better healing state than being asleep.

 If you manage to stay awake thorugh session, you’ll notice I have quite a hands on approach to Reiki. Everyone experiences Reiki differently, but to start, mostly you will feel the warmth in my hands, followed by an evolving sense of peace and relaxation.

Being a Massage therapist I have the ability to offer an extra head Massage at the end of each session. This is completely optional, something we discuss at the start of session. 

Clients usually notice instant changes after their first session, especially noticing a deeper sleep the night of. I always encourage clients to notice the subtle changes in the days following. Perhaps we become less reactive, feel more centred or in tune with our gut. 

And while there is no minimum requirement for Reiki to be beneficial, it may take a few sessions to resolve any deep seeded issues. 

And the best way to receive Reiki is… regularly. Think of it as a your monthly tune up. Bringing you back to earth when life gets on top of you. Maybe even link it in with your cycle or the moon. Some people use Reiki as a tool for letting go and making space for new beginnings.
